WHAT IS SEX + RELATIONSHIP COACHING?

We live in a society that often says that sex and one’s sexuality are shameful.

Over the years, these messages build up and get stored in our bodies, sometimes expressing themselves as a lack of confidence, low desire, disembodiment, negative self talk, and/or avoidance of intimacy.  In intimacy and relationship coaching with me, we help you build a better understanding of and more compassion toward yourself and your body, develop the skills to navigate the challenges of relationships, and cultivate more confidence in who you are as a sexual being and your personal sexual expression.

What is sex and relationship coaching?

I support people who are having issues or are feeling blocks around intimacy, sex, or relationships. My work is a blend of talk therapy practices and practical, experiential exercises.  Somatic (body-based) coaching differs from other therapy in that it emphasizes your connection to your body. Through the building and exploration of our relationship, you may uncover patterns that have been holding you back in other relationships.  Our time together is a safe, pressure-free space to look at some of these core beliefs and either shift or release them.

How is it different from traditional talk or sex therapy?

A sex therapist can help you explore your thoughts, beliefs, and history around sex and intimacy through dialogue and at-home exercises.  No touch is involved (or legally allowed), and generally the dynamic of the relationship is one-directional: the therapist will get to know a lot about you, and you will know little about them.

While I have training in Marriage and Family Counseling, I am not a licensed therapist.  Through coaching I am able to offer mindful touch exercises and my relationships with clients are mutual and relational.  Attraction and turn-on may appear in our work together, which can be really valuable in figuring out your erotic mind, paths to pleasure, and things that may have been holding you back.  It can be deeply vulnerable work, as I share what is showing up for me in relation to you in a way that no romantic partner ever may.  This creates a really fruitful opportunity to explore relationship dynamics within a safe container.

I want to help you cultivate your sense of self-worth and feel free in your expression of love and sexuality, regardless of your gender or sexual orientation. I want to help you release the “shoulds” you may have internalized so your body can become a source of connection and empowerment.
